may day is sort of a big deal on the islands. all the schools on all the islands put on a may day ho'olaulea. there is hula, music, crowning of the royal court representing each island, plenty of lei & flowers, & of course, plate lunch. the crowds are enormous. everyone comes to celebrate. coop was very excited & a little nervous about his first hula. his dancing was darling. the junior kindergartners performed ka'aahi kahului. the whole experience was incredible. i'm excited to join this to our annual celebrations.
(this is cooper's crush. one of the two haole girls in his class. go figure.)
