may day 2015

may day just might be the best day of the elementary school year. the flowers, music, & dance only enhance the feeling of aloha & ohana we have come to love at cooper's school. this year his school program was centered around famous hawaiians. the first grade chose to honor duke kahanamoku by dancing to the song pi'i mai ka nalu which means "catch the wave". it was far & away my most favorite may day performance, yet. my heart could just burst listening to these little seven year olds shout in pidgin & shake their booties while pretending to surf. it is down right darling. coop had the moves down & he knew every line. he practiced in secret on the days leading up to may day so that his final show would be a surprise for us. he made candy leis to pass out to friends after the program. i was so proud of all the handwork he put in to his big day. he is truly some kind of special.
