gc fall 2010

i've been reading over some of the general conference talks (since i couldn't pay attention very well with a 3 year old monster in need of attention).  was it just me or was general conference pretty amazing again this session.  it was.  i have to admit this was the first time in my life that i really wanted to watch & pay attention.  and what a good choice that turned out to be!  here is one of my favorite quotes by the wonderful thomas s. monson:

"There is a serious need for the charity that gives attention to those who are unnoticed, hope to those who are discouraged, aid to those who are afflicted. True charity is love in action....Charity is having patience with someone who has let us down. It is resisting the impulse to become offended easily. It is accepting weaknesses and shortcomings. It is accepting people as they truly are. It is looking beyond physical appearances to attributes that will not dim through time. It is resisting the impulse to categorize others.....We are surrounded by those in need of our attention, our encouragement, our support, our comfort, our kindness. . . . We are the Lord’s hands here upon the earth, with the mandate to serve and to lift His children. He is dependent upon each of us.”

i wanted to include a few of the quotes from dieter f. uchtdorf's talk but it was just too amazing to even attempt to sumarize.  if you missed it i strongly recommend reading it here.

  1. I love your blog!!! And the layout is amazing... so are your posts :) It is CRAZY how many places in the Bible it speaks of taking care of the orphan, the widow, and the weak. Apparently it is our calling :) And then there is that verse in Isaiah (maybe chapter 1 or 51...bad memory)- that says, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news." Makes me want to do it all the time!
